o Intro. to NT/IIS + Back Office
o Design Issues for Non-Designers
o Intro. to Scripting Languages - Logic Basics (VBS, JavaScript)

>>> Conference Tracks <<<

>> Track 1: Web Authoring <<
If you are interested in learning about the design and layout
web pages, and how to add further sophistication and behavior
to these pages with scripting code, the Web Authoring track is
for you.

This track focuses on the client side authoring issues involved in
designing and creating interactive web experiences. We'll cover
general HTML issues, design issues such as color palettes and fonts,
client side scripting, integration of ActiveX controls in web pages,
and tools you can use to make this easier. In addition, we'll cover
the Internet Explorer 4.0 showing how to take advantage of the Active
Desktop and how to use web technologies to integrate with the Windows
desktop. You'll see how the power of ActiveX and ActiveX controls
are just a drag-n-drop away!

Sessions include (but not limited to):
o In-depth HTML features
o Internet Explorer 4.0
o Scripting with VBS and JScript
o Advanced Style Using Cascading Style Sheets
o WYSIWYG Authoring with FrontPage
o Inserting Objects Using the OBJECT tag and Active Control Pad
o Controlling Page Layout using the HTML Layout Control
o Effective Use of Color Palettes and Fonts
o Making Your Content Viewable in Multiple Browsers on Multiple
Platforms
o How to Customize the Browser
o Web Authoring Tools for Creating Active Content

>> Track 2: Web Application and Component Development <<
If you are an application developer and want to be able to build
components and applications with Visual J++ and the next version
of Visual Basic, this track is for you.

This track dives a bit deeper, covering the ActiveX architecture
in more technical detail, and discusses how to build and create
your own components for your Intranet and Internet pages and
applications. You'll learn how the different parts of ActiveX
work together, and how you can create your own client and server
components using popular tools like Visual Basic, Visual J++,
and Visual C++.

Sessions include (but not limited to):
o ActiveX Client Architecture
o Creating ActiveX Components in VB
o Creating ActiveX Documents in VB
o Introductory and Advanced Java Development
o Developing Java on the Mac

>> Track 3: Web Server Development <<
If you are a developer who is responsible for building
functionality and high-performance into web-based back-end
systems, this track is for you. An ideal fit for any developer
interested in building server-side applications and extending
the web server primarily by scripting together server-side
components.

This track focuses on extending the server to creating exciting
and dynamic Web content. The ActiveX server makes it easy to
serve dynamic content by integrating VBScript and other script
engines into the server. The ActiveX server is extensible as well,
making it easy for these scripts to call server components to
access information and applications to provide personalized and
dynamic content. This track will also focus on Normandy, a suite
of server components, built on the ActiveX Server, that offer
customizable chat, news, mail, whitepages, and membership services.

Sessions include (but not limited to):
o Activating Your Site Using ActiveX Server
o ActiveX Server Architecture
o Building Content From Web Databases
o Writing Server-side Scripts
o Building Chat, News, and Mail Services Using Normandy
o Building White Pages and Membership Services Using Normandy
o Integrating Advanced Transaction Processing
o Integrating Time-based Media Into Your Site

>> Track 4: Commerce on the Web <<
HTML authors and developers who are responsible for building secure
transaction capabilities into storefronts/web sites will be
especially interested in this track.

In addition to covering the Microsoft Merchant Server, we will also
discuss the emerging public key infrastructure - and how your web
site can take advantage of the new security capabilities into
Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. You will learn
about key technologies like using client side certificates to control
access to your content, protecting end-users through Authenticode
and automating credit card processing through Microsoft Merchant
Server.

Sessions include (but not limited to):
o Creating Storefronts with Merchant Server
o Building a Secure Web Site
o Adding Credit Card Processing

>> Track 5: Web Content Management <<
If you are a webmaster responsible for the process of managing and
updating the content that is propagated on the web site or intranet,
these sessions are for you.

This track will focus on content and site management, including link
tracking and versioning. We will explore how tools like Front Page
and Visual Source Safe can be used to make the life of a webmaster a
little more sane.

Sessions include (but not limited to):
o Site Management with Front Page and Visual SourceSafe
o Information Retrieval
o Indexing & Search
o Content Replication Servers
